Copelandia cyanscens Hawaiian

Panaeolus cyanescens, better known as Copelandia Hawaiian or "Blue Meanies," belongs to a different mushroom family than the standard Psilocybe cubensis. Its psilocybin and psilocin content is 3 to 5 times higher, making this species one of the strongest in the world. The grow kits contain a substrate based on horse manure and require more attention than cubensis: a stable temperature of 24–27°C, high humidity, and daily ventilation. Suitable only for experienced growers.

Copelandia Hawaiian Magic Mushroom Grow Kit (Panaeolus cyanescens)
The Copelandia Hawaiian grow kit contains the mycelium of Panaeolus cyanescens, a mushroom that belongs to a completely different family than the well-known Psilocybe cubensis. While cubensis variants such as Golden Teacher or B+ are mild to moderately potent, Panaeolus cyanescens is known as one of the most potent psilocybin-containing mushrooms in the world. Scientific research shows psilocybin levels of up to 2.5% and psilocin levels of up to 1.2% dry weight, making this species 3 to 5 times stronger than standard cubensis.
What’s included in the grow kit?
The kit includes a 1200ml grow box with fully colonized substrate made from horse manure, a grow bag with an air filter, two trays of growing medium, and paper clips. The substrate mimics the natural growing environment of Panaeolus cyanescens; this species grows in tropical regions on the manure of grazing animals.
Yield and Harvesting
When used correctly, this grow kit yields 50 to 100 grams of fresh mushrooms, spread over 2 to 4 flushes. The yield is lower than with cubensis grow kits, but due to the high potency, you need much less per session. The mushrooms have thin, long stems and small grayish-white caps that turn blue upon contact, hence the nickname "Blue Meanies."
Growing process: requires a different approach
Panaeolus cyanescens has different requirements than Psilocybe cubensis. This species is more sensitive to temperature fluctuations and contamination, making extra care during the cultivation process necessary. Maintain a temperature of 24°C to 27°C and a humidity level of 95% to 100%. Daily ventilation is crucial; this mushroom requires more oxygen than cubensis.
Upon receiving the grow kit, spread the included growing medium evenly over the mycelium. Lightly mist the growing medium so it is moist but not soaked. Place the grow box inside the grow bag and keep the inside of the bag moist by spraying daily. After 7 to 14 days, the first mushrooms will appear. From that point on, spray only the inside of the bag, not directly on the mushrooms.
Harvesting and Subsequent Flushes
Harvest the mushrooms when the caps are fully open but before the spores start to fall. The caps change color from light brown to grayish-white as they mature. Gently twist the mushrooms loose at the base; do not pull them straight up. After harvesting, spray the substrate thoroughly with water from a short distance and resume the normal cultivation process for the next flush.
Potency and Dosage
Due to its high content of both psilocybin and psilocin, the effects of Panaeolus cyanescens are more intense and set in faster than those of cubensis. Psilocin is the active compound that is absorbed directly by the body, whereas psilocybin must first be metabolized. This explains why the effects of this species set in more quickly.
The dosage is 3 to 4 times lower than for cubensis:
Mild experience: 1 to 2.5 grams fresh (0.1 to 0.3 grams dried)
Moderate experience: 3 to 5 grams fresh (0.4 to 0.5 grams dried)
Strong experience: 5 to 7 grams fresh (0.5 to 0.7 grams dried)
Always start with a low dose, even if you have experience with other mushrooms. The intensity of Panaeolus cyanescens surprises even seasoned users.
Effects
Users describe the trip as visually intense with bright colors, geometric patterns, and a deeply introspective nature. The physical strain is perceived as lower than with cubensis, with fewer stomach issues. The main trip lasts 4 to 6 hours. Many users report that the experience is more stable than with cubensis, with fewer peaks and valleys.
Background and Origin
Panaeolus cyanescens occurs naturally in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, from Hawaii to Southeast Asia, from Brazil to Australia. The species arrived in Hawaii with livestock imported from the Philippines and received its common name there. The mushroom grows on manure from cattle, horses, and water buffalo in areas with high humidity and temperatures.
The name "Copelandia" refers to the American botanist Edwin Bingham Copeland, although the species is now officially classified under the genus Panaeolus. In common parlance, both names are used interchangeably.
Warning
This grow kit is intended exclusively for experienced growers and users. Due to the strain’s high potency and sensitivity during the cultivation process, we recommend that beginners first gain experience with standard cubensis cultivation kits. Never combine with alcohol or other substances. Ensure a quiet, safe environment and a sober supervisor.
Grow kit contents
1200ml grow box with colonized substrate (horse manure)
Grow bag with air filter
2 containers of growing medium
Paperclips
Dutch-language manual
Supplies (not included)
Clean plant sprayer with fine mist
Thermometer
Hygrometer (recommended)
Storage
Start the growing process immediately upon receipt. The grow kit is a fresh product with a limited shelf life. If stored in the refrigerator for an extended period, the growing medium may develop blue or green discoloration; this is normal and does not indicate contamination.
