What is the Magic Bar?

The Magic Bar is an innovative way to experience psychedelic mycelium. While truffles and mushrooms are typically used in their natural form, the Magic Bar offers a modern alternative in bar form. The mycelium comes from Psilocybe natalensis, a species known for its consistent psilocybin content and relatively mild stomach effects compared to fresh truffles.

Each bar contains 35 grams of mycelium and is divided into cubes for precise dosing. The product is delivered frozen to prevent oxidation and loss of quality. After thawing, the Magic Bar is ready for immediate use; do not refreeze it after thawing.

Dosage

The cube format makes the Magic Bar suitable for a variety of purposes. Below is a guideline based on user experiences; the actual intensity varies by person, body weight, set & setting, and prior experience with psychedelics.

1 cube — microdose. Users report improved focus and a lighter mood without noticeable psychedelic effects.
3–5 cubes — mild trip. May lead to gentle visual distortions and euphoria.
6–8 cubes — medium trip with stronger visuals and deeper introspection.
9–10 cubes — more intense experience; only suitable for people with extensive experience with psychedelics.

Always start with a lower dose than you expect to need, especially on your first use. Taking a higher dose is always an option; reversing the effects is not. The onset is usually between 30 and 60 minutes after ingestion; wait at least 90 minutes before deciding to take more.

Active ingredient: psilocybin

The psychoactive effects of the Magic Bar are attributed to psilocybin, the primary alkaloid in Psilocybe natalensis. After ingestion, psilocybin is converted in the body to psilocin, which binds to the 5-HT2A serotonin receptors in the prefrontal cortex. This affects perception, mood, and the sense of connection. The intensity and nature of the effects depend on dosage, set & setting, and individual sensitivity.

Harm reduction

Psilocybin is a powerful psychoactive substance. The guidelines below are intended to minimize risks.

Never use alone; always have a sober trip sitter present who can provide support during a difficult moment. Choose a familiar, quiet environment and avoid crowded or unfamiliar places. Do not combine psilocybin with alcohol, cannabis, SSRIs, SNRIs, MAO inhibitors, or lithium, nor with other psychedelics. Wait at least three to four weeks between sessions to prevent tolerance. Use is not recommended if you have a history of mental health issues, are pregnant, or are taking psychiatric medication; consult a doctor first.

Is the Magic Bar legal in the Netherlands?

Yes. The Magic Bar is based on Psilocybe natalensis mycelium and is not subject to the Opium Act, just as magic truffles (sclerotia) are not. Dried mushrooms are, however, so the distinction is relevant.

What is the difference between the Magic Bar and magic truffles?

Magic truffles are sclerotia, a type of storage structure of the fungus. The Magic Bar is made from mycelium, the thread-like network of the fungus. Both contain psilocybin, but due to its processing, the Magic Bar has a more consistent dosage per cube and causes fewer stomach issues for many users than fresh truffles.

How do I store the Magic Bar?

Store the Magic Bar frozen until ready to use. Do not refreeze after thawing. Consume thawed product preferably within 24 hours and store in a cool place.

Can I combine the Magic Bar with other Dutch-Smart products?
