VAPOSHOP
A vaporizer heats herbs, cannabis, or tobacco to just below the combustion point, releasing active compounds as vapor without the harmful byproducts of smoke. At Dutch-Smart, you’ll find both portable vaporizers and tabletop vaporizers from brands like Storz & Bickel, Arizer, DaVinci, and Smono. Whether you want to vape at home with a desktop model or need a compact dry herb vaporizer on the go, our vaposhop has the right device for every user.
Since July 1, 2023, electronic vaporizers may no longer be sold online in the Netherlands. Non-electronic vaporizers (such as the VaporGenie) can still be ordered online as usual. Electronic models are available at our physical store in Helmond.
Vaporizers: Vaping as a Healthier Alternative to Smoking
When herbs or cannabis are vaporized, active compounds such as THC, CBD, and terpenes are released at temperatures between 160°C and 220°C. That is well below the combustion temperature of plant material (around 230°C). The difference is significant: combustion releases substances such as carbon monoxide, tar, and benzene. A vaporizer largely prevents this, as it does not involve a flame. Vaporizing therefore results in cleaner inhalation, while preserving flavor and active compounds.
The exact temperature determines which substances you inhale. Vaporizing at lower temperatures (around 160–180°C) produces a lighter, flavorful vapor with more terpenes. Higher temperatures (190–220°C) result in more intense vapor production and a stronger effect. Many modern vaporizers feature precise temperature control, allowing you to experiment and find the optimal setting for your herb blend.
Portable or desktop: which type is right for you?
The range falls into two main categories, each with its own advantages.
Portable vaporizers
Compact, rechargeable via USB-C or internal battery, and designed to be portable. Models like the Crafty+ and Mighty+ from Storz & Bickel combine a small form factor with precise temperature control via an app. More budget-friendly options from Smono or Boundless offer convection or conduction heating starting at around €90. Desktop vaporizers
Desktop vaporizers run on AC power and deliver a more consistent, powerful vapor. The Volcano by Storz & Bickel is the best-known example: this model fills a heat-resistant balloon with vapor, allowing you to inhale at your own pace. Other desktop models, such as the Arizer Extreme Q, use a hose (whip system). Desktop models are popular among medical users who vaporize daily and value large vapor volumes and consistent temperature. View the desktop vaporizers.
What herbs can you vaporize?
Dry herb vaporizers are designed for dried plant material. In addition to cannabis, they are widely used for herbs such as lavender, chamomile, peppermint, and damiana. Some users also vaporize salvia divinorum or kanna, though these herbs require specific temperature settings. In our vaporizer herb mixes, you’ll find ready-to-use blends specially formulated for vaporization.
Maintenance and Lifespan
Regular cleaning extends the lifespan of your vaporizer and keeps the vapor flavor pure. Most models come with a brush and replacement screens. Clean the herb chamber after each session with the included brush, and soak metal and glass parts weekly in isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher). Silicone tubes and mouthpieces can be cleaned with warm water and a little dish soap. Replace screens as soon as they become visibly discolored or clogged.
Frequently Asked Questions About Vaporizers
What is the difference between convection and conduction?
With conduction, the herb comes into direct contact with the heated surface, similar to a frying pan. Convection blows hot air through the herb, ensuring more even heating. More expensive models combine both systems (hybrid heating) for the best results.
How long does the battery of a portable vaporizer last?
That varies by model. Compact pen-style vaporizers often last for 3 to 5 sessions on a full charge. Larger portable models, such as the Mighty+, can last for 8 or more sessions. A session lasts an average of 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the set temperature and inhalation pattern.
Can I also use a vaporizer for concentrates?
Some dry herb vaporizers come with a concentrate pad or liquid pad, which allows you to vaporize waxes or oils. Not every model supports this, so check before purchasing to see if the relevant accessory is available.
Is vaporizing really healthier than smoking?
Vaporizing releases significantly fewer combustion byproducts than smoking, because no flame is involved. It’s not entirely risk-free: you’re still inhaling active compounds. The main difference lies in the absence of tar, carbon monoxide, and other combustion gases.
Can I order an electronic vaporizer online?
No. Since July 1, 2023, the Dutch Tobacco Act has prohibited the online sale of electronic vaporizers. Non-electronic vaporizers, such as the VaporGenie, can still be ordered as usual. You can pick up electronic models at our store in Helmond or purchase them on-site.
