Hybrid Magic Mushroom Grow Kits
The hybrid magic mushroom grow kits contain several varieties you won’t find in a standard grow kit assortment: Enigma, Jack Frost, and Bluey Vuitton. These are all Psilocybe Cubensis variants created through selective breeding or cloning, each with a distinctive appearance and its own unique effect profile. These grow kits are intended for growers with some experience. Suitable only for individuals 18 years of age and older.
Enigma
Enigma mushrooms are entirely man-made and exist solely thanks to the complex art of cloning. This species does not produce spores and is sterile. Unlike typical Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms, they do not develop traditional caps and stems. Instead, Enigma mushrooms form dense clusters resembling brains or coral, making them visually striking and instantly recognizable. Because no spore print can be produced, this strain can only be propagated through tissue cloning. Enigma is known for having a high psilocybin concentration per gram compared to other Cubensis variants.
Jack Frost
Jack Frost mushrooms were first crossed and isolated by grower Dave Wombat. The strain has white or light blue caps that look icy or crystalline, hence the name. The stems are white to bluish and sturdy, and the gills are usually white but darken as the spores mature. Jack Frost is a hybrid within the Cubensis spectrum and is known for relatively fast colonization and substantial harvests. Blueing upon touch, a sign of psilocin oxidation, is clearly visible in this strain.
Bluey Vuitton
Bluey Vuitton is a hybrid of Panama X Melmac PE, making it one of the more potent species in the Funglandia assortment. Its most distinctive visual feature is the sparkling blue effect on the central part of the golden cap, caused by the oxidation of psilocin. The stems are white to nearly white and may develop a bluish sheen when touched or damaged. The gills are medium to large and exhibit a wide range of formations. Due to its Panama X Melmac PE heritage, Bluey Vuitton has above-average potency and is less suitable as a first introduction to mushroom cultivation.
Hybrid grow kits versus standard grow kits
The Funglandia hybrid grow kits differ in a number of ways from the standard 1200cc or 2100cc Cubensis grow kits. The cultivation method requires a bit more attention: hybrid and cloned strains like Enigma are more susceptible to contamination than more robust strains like Cambodian or Golden Teacher. If you have no prior cultivation experience, start with the 1200cc medium grow kits or the XL grow kits. You can find more about the brand and the full Funglandia range on the Funglandia brand page.
If you’d like to take on an even more unique growing project, check out the Copelandia Hawaiian grow kits, a tropical species that falls outside the Cubensis spectrum and is known for its high psilocybin content per gram.
Dosage and safe use
Hybrid strains like Enigma and Bluey Vuitton may have a higher psilocybin concentration than common Cubensis varieties. Do not assume the same dosage you’re used to with other strains. Start lower than usual, especially the first time you try these strains. A quiet environment, a sober person nearby, and plenty of time are always advisable. Do not combine psilocybin with alcohol, MAO inhibitors, or SSRIs. Use is not recommended for those with latent psychosis, schizophrenia, pregnancy, or individuals under the age of 18. Frequently Asked Questions About Funglandia Hybrid Grow Kits
What makes the Funglandia hybrid grow kits different from regular grow kits?
The Funglandia grow kits contain strains that have been developed through cloning or selective crossbreeding and are not propagated via spores. Enigma is completely sterile and does not produce spores. Jack Frost and Bluey Vuitton are hybrids with a striking appearance and above-average potency. They are visually more appealing and sometimes more potent than standard Cubensis strains, but also require slightly more care during cultivation.
Are these grow kits suitable for beginners?
Not ideal. Hybrid and cloned strains are generally more susceptible to contamination than common Cubensis varieties. For a first-time growing experience, we recommend the medium grow kits, where strains like Golden Teacher and Cambodian offer more leeway for beginners.
Can I propagate Enigma using spores?
No. Enigma is a sterile mutation that does not produce spores. The strain can only be propagated via tissue cloning. The grow kit contains pre-cultured substrate that allows you to get started right away, but further propagation requires cloning techniques.
How potent are the Funglandia strains compared to other magic mushrooms?
Enigma and Bluey Vuitton are known for having an above-average psilocybin concentration compared to standard Cubensis strains such as Mexican or Golden Teacher. When dosing, always start with less than you would normally take and build up gradually. You can read more about the effects of psilocybin in the knowledge base article on psilocybin and the brain.
