Kratom Tinctures
At Dutch-Smart, you’ll find kratom in all shapes and sizes: we carry a wide variety of strains, as well as a large selection of kratom extracts and kratom tinctures. A kratom tincture is one of the most potent and convenient ways to use kratom (Mitragyna speciosa). These tinctures are made by dissolving the active alkaloids from kratom leaves in a liquid, resulting in a concentrated, liquid form of kratom. With kratom tinctures, there is a difference between standard liquid and highly concentrated varieties, usually indicated by labels such as 15X or 3:1.

A kratom tincture is a mixture obtained by extracting the active alkaloids present in kratom. In simpler terms: it is a liquid containing all the active ingredients of regular kratom powder, but in a convenient liquid form. In most cases, kratom is processed using ethanol as a solvent. The resulting liquid contains all the essential active compounds of kratom, particularly mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. A kratom tincture is therefore one of the most practical ways to experience the full effects of this herb.
Our Tincture Selection
Our range includes three different kratom tinctures, each with its own character and strength.
The Kratom X Blue Lilly liquid (10 ml) combines kratom with Blue Lilly (Nymphaea caerulea), a plant traditionally used to promote relaxation. This combination provides a calming effect that differs from pure kratom alone.
The Kratom Maeng Da Liquid is based on Maeng Da kratom, the strongest kratom variety. As a tincture, the effects are noticeable more quickly than when using Maeng Da powder, while the alkaloid profile remains comparable.
The Maeng Da 3:1 extract (5 ml) is the most concentrated tincture in our range. The 3:1 ratio means that three parts of kratom leaf were used to produce one part of extract. As a result, this extract is approximately three times as strong as a standard tincture and requires a lower dosage.
Difference between tinctures and extracts
The terms “tincture” and “extract” are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference. A tincture is technically an extract in which alcohol (ethanol) serves as a solvent and the final product is always liquid. With other kratom extracts, the final product can also be a powder or resin, such as our Bali resin extract. Tinctures are therefore ready for immediate use without further preparation.
The concentration factor is indicated by a number followed by “X” or as a ratio. A 3:1 extract contains the alkaloids from three parts leaf material in one part liquid. With powder extracts, you’ll see designations like 20X, 30X, or 50X, which refer to even higher concentrations. Tinctures are generally less concentrated than powder extracts but are absorbed more quickly by the body.
Use and Dosage of Kratom Tinctures
The most effective way to use a kratom tincture is sublingually: place a few drops of the liquid under your tongue and hold it there for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. The alkaloids enter the bloodstream more quickly through the mucous membrane under the tongue than through the stomach. As a result, the effects are often noticeable within 5 to 15 minutes.
You can also add the tincture to a drink such as tea or juice, though it will take a little longer to feel the effects because the liquid is first absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract.
Because tinctures are more concentrated than regular kratom powder, it’s important to start with a low dose. Begin with a few drops and wait at least 20 minutes to assess the effect before taking any additional dose. When buying a tincture, pay close attention to which extract you’re purchasing and whether it’s a concentrated variant; for example, the Maeng Da 3:1 extract is significantly stronger than standard liquids.
Tincture vs. powder: which is right for you?
The choice between a tincture and kratom powder depends on your personal preference. Tinctures are ideal if you’re looking for a fast-acting, easy-to-dose form that you can use discreetly. You don’t need a scale and don’t have to brew tea. Kratom powder, on the other hand, offers more flexibility in dosing and is more cost-effective per gram. Many experienced users alternate between both forms, depending on the situation.
Responsible Use
We always recommend starting with a low dose, especially with tinctures and extracts. Do not use kratom tinctures daily and stick to low doses to prevent tolerance. Do not combine kratom with alcohol, medications, or other psychoactive substances. Do not drive or operate machinery after use, as drowsiness may occur. Kratom tinctures are not suitable for individuals under 18 years of age, pregnant women, or women who are breastfeeding.
