Filter Book

A filter tip, also called a crutch, is the small piece of card rolled into the mouthpiece end of a joint. It gives the joint structure so it holds its shape, stops loose tobacco or herb from being drawn in while smoking, and lets you smoke it right down to the last bit without needing a roach clip. Without a filter, many smokers reach for a scrap of card from a cigarette packet or other packaging, but that card is often printed or coated with something you'd rather not smoke.

This filter book offers a clean, consistent alternative: a set of card sheets from which you tear a strip the width of the filter you want to make.

How to use

Tear a strip of the size you want from a sheet in the book. Fold the strip into a zigzag, accordion or spiral shape and roll it into a firm little cylinder about 5 to 6 mm across. Place this filter at the end of your rolling paper before rolling the rest of the joint, so it ends up serving as the mouthpiece. A loose book weighs next to nothing and is thin enough to carry alongside your rolling papers in a case or pocket.
