Satya White Sage incense - 15 grams

Satya is one of the best-known incense brands in the world, having become famous through its classic Nag Champa line, associated with Indian spiritual teacher Sathya Sai Baba. White Sage is a later addition to the range and combines the traditional Satya recipe with a fragrance inspired by white sage (Salvia Apiana), a plant long used in Southern Californian tradition to clear a space of odour.

Like the rest of the Satya line, the sticks are handrolled in India using the traditional masala method: a paste of fragrant woods, resins, herbs and essential oils is rolled by hand around a thin bamboo core and then dried. This pack contains 15 grams, enough for several sessions; each stick burns for roughly 45 minutes.

Use

Place the stick upright in a stable incense holder with a tray to catch the ash, for example the Ganesh incense holder from the Dutch-Smart range. Light the tip, let it burn well for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame; the stick keeps smouldering and releases its scent gradually. Ventilate the room while it burns and keep the holder away from curtains and other flammable material.

Storage

Store the sticks in the sealed pack, dry and out of direct sunlight. Moisture makes the sticks burn unevenly and can weaken the scent.
