Thai White Kratom Powder
Thai White is kratom powder from the Mitragyna speciosa plant, harvested in Thailand, the country where the tree originates. Farmers and labourers in southern Thailand traditionally chewed the leaves to fight fatigue and get through long days of work in the fields. Within the leaf-colour classification, this variety falls under White Vein, the colour group harvested before the leaf vein fully changes colour and generally associated with a more stimulating profile than Green or Red Vein.
Dosage
The right dosage is personal and depends on body weight, experience and the desired effect. As a general guideline: 1 to 3 grams gives most people a mild stimulating effect, 3 to 5 grams brings out the stimulating character White Vein is known for more strongly, and 5 to 8 grams tips toward a more intense experience. Always start with a low dose, especially with a strain you have not tried before. The first effects are usually noticeable after 15 to 30 minutes and last 3 to 6 hours on average.
Use
The most popular preparation in the Netherlands is kratom tea: dissolve the powder in hot, not boiling, water, let it steep for 10 to 15 minutes and strain out the leaf. Honey or lemon softens the bitter taste. If you would rather skip the tea, you can take the measured amount of powder directly with water or juice ("toss and wash"), or mix it into a smoothie or yoghurt to mask the taste.
Storage
Store the powder dry, airtight and out of direct sunlight, preferably in its original packaging or a sealable jar, so the alkaloid content stays intact as long as possible. Do not combine kratom with alcohol, MAO inhibitors, benzodiazepines or other psychoactive substances, and do not drive or operate heavy machinery after use. Suitable only for people aged 18 and over; not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Kratom was banned in Thailand from 1943 to 2021, but is now legally recognised again as part of local culture.
