Maeng Da Red Kratom - Mitragyna Speciosa Powder
Maeng Da originally is a Thai kratom variety that was further developed through grafting into a selection with a relatively high content of alkaloids such as mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, the two main active compounds in kratom. Within the kratom trade, the name is now used for potent selections from multiple growing regions, not exclusively from Thailand. This Red variety falls under the vein-colour classification: Red Vein is generally associated among kratom users with a calmer, more relaxed profile than Green or White Vein, although the experience varies per person.
Dosage
The right dosage is personal and depends on body weight, experience and the desired effect. As a general guideline: at 1 to 2 grams most people experience a lighter effect, at 2 to 4 grams a balance emerges, and at 4 to 6 grams the more relaxing character that Red Vein is known for tends to dominate. Always start with a low dose, especially with Maeng Da given its relatively high alkaloid content. The first effects are usually noticeable after 15 to 30 minutes and last on average 3 to 6 hours.
Use
The most popular preparation method in the Netherlands is kratom tea: dissolve the powder in hot water, let it steep for 10 to 15 minutes and strain out the leaf material. Honey or lemon softens the bitter taste. If you'd rather skip the tea, you can take the measured amount of powder directly in your mouth and wash it down with water or juice ("toss and wash"), or mix the powder into a smoothie or yoghurt.
Storage
Store the powder dry, airtight and away from direct sunlight, preferably in the original packaging or a sealable jar. Do not combine kratom with alcohol, MAO inhibitors, benzodiazepines or other psychoactive substances, and do not drive or operate heavy machinery after use. Suitable only for people aged 18 and over; not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
