What is rapé?
What is rapé? Rapé is a type of snuff primarily used by indigenous tribes in Brazil. Rapé consists mainly of Mapacho and also contains combinations of other plants. For rapé, you can use a self-applicator pipe called a “Kuripe.”
How do you use rapé?
As mentioned, rapé is a snuff. This means you inhale the substances through your nose. In certain rituals, the rapé is blown into your nose by another person, but if you don’t like this (or you happen to be alone), there are various tools you can use to administer the rapé properly. For example, there is the self-applicator pipe called Kuripe. This is a V-shaped pipe that connects your mouth to your nostril. It is generally easier if someone else can administer the rapé for you, but you can easily learn and do it yourself. At Dutch Smart, you’ll find not only different types of rapé, but also several variations of the Kuripe.
The effect of rapé is a kind of intense jolt to your mind, where you can suddenly feel liberated and find it easier to let go of negativity. The exact effects ultimately always vary from person to person and from one experience to the next (circumstances can differ), but we hear these experiences frequently from users.
What should you keep in mind?
If you’re going to use rapé (for the first time), it’s obviously wise to read the package insert first. Because rapé doesn’t always have the same effects, you should also take other factors into account. Additionally, you can take other steps to ensure that your experience with rapé is as pleasant as possible.
- Use rapé on an empty stomach. If your stomach is full, you may feel nauseous and possibly vomit.
- Choose a good time to use rapé, and skip a session if, for example, you have a hangover.
- If you’re administering rapé, don’t blow too hard for the first two seconds.
- If rapé is being administered to you, hold your breath. After administration, breathe briefly through your mouth so the rapé doesn’t end up in your throat (this is very unpleasant). Also, don’t tilt your head back, because that will have the same effect. If snuff does get into your throat, clear your throat and spit it out.
- Your eyes may water a bit; this is completely normal.
- Nowhere is it specified how long you should let the rapé sit before spitting it out.
