This grinder is made of aluminium and features the recognisable Dutch-Smart logo. With a diameter of 48 mm and a height of 41 mm, it is a mid-sized model that fits easily in one hand while still offering room for a decent amount of herb per session. The sharp teeth in the top chamber deliver a fine, even grind.

As a 4-piece grinder, this model consists of four parts: the lid with teeth on the inside, the grinding chamber where the herb is broken down, a mesh screen that separates the ground material from finer crystal powder, and a separate catch chamber at the bottom where that powder collects, commonly known as the pollen catcher. That makes a 4-piece grinder more practical than a 2-piece model for anyone who also wants to keep the finest particles.

Use and maintenance

Put the herb in the top chamber, screw the lid on and twist it a number of times until the material is fine enough. Then unscrew the chambers to remove the ground herb; the finest powder is found at the bottom, in the pollen catcher chamber. Clean the teeth and the mesh screen regularly with a small brush to prevent clogging from sticky residue, and let all the parts dry properly before putting the grinder back together.
