Change the water after every use. For a deep clean, fill the bong with isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and a generous handful of coarse salt. Cover the openings, shake firmly, then rinse well with warm water. The percolator and diffuser need extra attention, since that is where residue builds up fastest.

How much water should I use?
