Ice bong for chilled weed smoke
An ice bong works like a regular water pipe for weed, but with an extra cooling step. The ice nips in the tube are small protrusions on the inside of the glass that hold ice cubes in place above the water reservoir. The cannabis smoke rises through the water, passes the ice cubes, and cools further before reaching the mouthpiece. The result is a significantly smoother and cooler draw than with a bong without ice.
The red/orange batik pattern is incorporated into the glass itself and does not fade during cleaning. Borosilicate glass is more heat-resistant and sturdier than regular soda-lime glass, which offers a practical advantage for a 30 cm bong in daily use. The 18.8 mm bowl is a common, larger standard size for which plenty of replacement parts are available. You can find more cannabis bongs in the bongs category.
Usage
Fill the bong with water until the downstem is just below the water surface. Place a few ice cubes through the mouthpiece into the tube so they rest on the ice caps. Cover the side vent, fill the bowl with weed, and light it while taking a drag. Release the vent for the final drag. Replace the ice regularly during prolonged use; meltwater dilutes the bong water, reducing its filtering effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
How big should the ice cubes be for this bong?
The ice cubes must be smaller than the inner diameter of the tube (40 mm). Standard ice cubes from an ice cube tray usually fit well. If necessary, break large cubes in half before placing them. Crushed ice also works, but melts faster. Place the ice cubes into the tube through the mouthpiece so they rest on the caps, not in the bong water itself.
What is the advantage of borosilicate glass over regular glass?
Borosilicate glass has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than regular soda-lime glass. This makes it significantly more resistant to sudden temperature changes, such as the contact between hot smoke and cold ice water. Regular glass can crack when exposed to large temperature differences. For an ice bong, where you intentionally combine cold ice and warm smoke, borosilicate glass is the logical choice of material.
Will the 18.8 mm ground joint fit my existing bowls?
18.8 mm is one of the two common standard sizes, alongside 14.5 mm. If you already have bowls or accessories, check what size they are. A 14.5 mm bowl will not fit into an 18.8 mm ground joint without an adapter. If you want to combine bowls or accessories with other bongs in the range, always make sure the ground joint size matches.
