Ballistol Aerosol Stash Can
This stash can is made from a genuine, empty Ballistol spray can, a German brand of universal oil originally developed in 1904 for firearm maintenance and known since then as a household product for lubricating and protecting metal, wood and rubber. Because it is a real can with the actual label, it does not stand out among other items in a shed, garage or under a sink. The underside has a screw-on lid that opens up the hollow interior, where small items can be kept out of sight.
Since these are original, previously used spray cans, the tin may show slight dents or signs of use. That is not a defect but part of the authentic look. The brand was developed in 1904 for the German military, which used it for weapon maintenance until 1945, and it later grew into a household staple in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Because almost everyone has seen the yellow can with its familiar lettering at some point, a Ballistol can rarely raises an eyebrow among other tools.
Use and care
Unscrew the lid on the underside of the can to reach the storage space, and screw it back on to close it. Store the can in a dry place away from moisture to prevent rust on the inside of the tin. Handle the can with care: it is a shaped metal tin, not a shockproof safe.
