Banisteriopsis Caapi Leaf - 100 grams
Banisteriopsis caapi is a woody liana from the Malpighiaceae family, native to the Amazon rainforest of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil. The plant is known worldwide as the base ingredient of ayahuasca, the traditional plant brew that indigenous peoples of the Amazon have used for centuries in ritual and ceremonial contexts. Alongside the stem, the leaf of the plant is also harvested and dried; this product consists of 100 grams of dried Banisteriopsis caapi leaf. Like the stem, the leaf naturally contains beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine, harmaline and tetrahydroharmine. These compounds are extensively described in the scientific literature as reversible MAO-A inhibitors.
