Description

Kuripe - Rapé Applicator

In the Amazon region, Rapé is a ritual snuff made from powdered (local) herbs, tobacco, and ash. Many indigenous tribes use it in spiritual and healing practices. During this ritual, Rapé is blown into the nostrils. The Kuripe assists in this ceremony.

Kuripe applicators are usually handmade from bamboo, but sometimes also from wood or bone. The design is simple: it consists of two tubes that meet at an angle, forming a V-shape. One end of this V goes into the user’s mouth, and the other end is inserted into the nostril. This design allows the user to blow the snuff into their own nose, enabling controlled and precise application.

Usage: Place a small amount of rapé powder into the end of the bamboo applicator that goes into the nostril. Insert the other end into the mouth and blow forcefully so that the rapé enters the nasal cavity. Repeat this for the other nostril if necessary.
