Banisteriopsis caapi is one of the two main ingredients in a traditional visionary brew from the Amazon region. It contains a high percentage of natural ingredients and has a strong purgative effect.

Banisteriopsis Caapi, also known simply as Caapi or Yage, is a vine from the South American jungles belonging to the Malpighiaceae family.

Some indigenous peoples distinguish more than 40 species. Three well-known varieties are Cielo, Red, and Ourinhos. “Ourinhos” literally means “little gold.” Some say the name comes from the color the infusion, made from this species, takes on.
