APE: about the strain
APE stands for Albino Penis Envy, a light-coloured variety from the Penis Envy family of Psilocybe cubensis. The strain has the thick, compact build typical of that line, but with much less pigment. The fruits are white, cream-coloured or light grey. Strictly speaking, many specimens are leucistic rather than fully albino, so colour differences between mushrooms are normal. On the pale surface the blue bruising after handling is especially visible, an ordinary bruising reaction and not contamination.
APE is known for being very potent, typical of Penis Envy genetics. The active compounds are psilocybin and psilocin. The caps stay small and often relatively closed, the stems are thick and firm, and spore production is limited. Growth is slower and more selective than with beginner strains such as Golden Teacher or B+: pins appear later and you get fewer, but more compact mushrooms. Patience and stable conditions matter here. That is why APE is mainly one for experienced growers.

Set up right away for the best result
Set the grow bag up as soon as possible after you receive it, that gives the best result. Keep the substrate in the original bag and keep temperature and humidity stable. With APE, slow growth does not mean the bag has stalled, so do not keep changing the setup as long as the mycelium looks healthy. The elastic band around the bag prevents side pins, so leave it on throughout the whole grow. A corner at the top has been cut off for air circulation: seal that opening with the included sticker after every fresh air exchange. Because the caps often stay closed, use the manual to judge the right moment to harvest. If you do need to store the bag briefly, keep it cool and dark at 6-8°C and do not freeze.

Psilocybe cubensis APE contains psilocybin and psilocin, psychoactive substances. This strain is very potent, so start with a clearly lower dose than you are used to with a regular cubensis. This product is intended for adults aged 18 and over only. Use it in a safe, familiar environment with a sober person present (trip sitter). Do not combine with alcohol, antidepressants (SSRI/MAOI) or other psychoactive substances. Do not use if you have a personal or family history of psychosis or schizophrenia.
