Blue Ghost: albino hybrid with intense blue bruising

Blue Ghost is an albino-dominant Psilocybe cubensis hybrid, developed by breeder Julian Mattucci from a cross between Long Ghost and Blue Shakti. The strain is instantly recognisable by its milky-white to pale golden caps and thick, sturdy stems that display intense blue bruising on contact. That blue colour is a visual marker of psilocybin oxidation and gives the strain its distinctive appearance. Fruiting bodies are medium to large, grow in dense clusters and are visually unlike most other Psilocybe cubensis strains.

In terms of cultivation behaviour, Blue Ghost offers strong colonisation and reliable fruiting, making it accessible even for beginners. The grow bag is produced under sterile conditions and requires no activation step: as soon as you place the bag in the right environmental conditions, fruiting begins. Why does Blue Ghost bruise so intensely blue when touched?

Is Blue Ghost suitable for beginners?

Cultivation is suitable for beginners: the grow bag requires no activation step and the strain has reliable fruiting behaviour. For consumption, however, Blue Ghost has a medium to high potency profile. If you have little experience with psilocybin, start with a significantly lower dose than you would use with a more familiar beginner strain such as Golden Teacher.
