The difference between a grow bag and a classic grow kit is convenience. A grow kit requires an activation step: you rinse the mycelium, let it rest, then begin fruiting. A grow bag skips that step entirely: the substrate is already fully colonised and ready to fruit as soon as you create the right environmental conditions. For beginners, fewer steps means less room for error in the early stages.

The Amazonian is a Psilocybe cubensis strain with strong colonisation and excellent fruiting potential, known for dense, well-formed fruiting bodies and multiple flushes with good care. The grow bag is produced under sterile conditions, minimising the risk of contamination. Store the bag unopened at 6-8°C until use; do not freeze. Storage and shelf life

Store the grow bag unopened in the refrigerator at 6-8°C. When stored correctly the bag is viable for up to 6 months. Do not freeze: temperatures below 0°C permanently damage mycelium. For best results, use as soon as possible after receiving.

What is the difference between a grow bag and a grow kit?

A classic grow kit contains colonised substrate in a plastic tray and requires an activation step: you rinse the surface, let it rest, then begin fruiting. A grow bag skips that activation step: the mycelium is already fully ready and you only need to create the right environmental conditions. Grow bags generally offer a higher substrate volume and are slightly simpler to use for beginners.

How do I know when the grow bag is ready to harvest?

Mushrooms are ready to harvest just before the veil beneath the cap tears. As soon as you see the veil starting to open and the cap shifting from round to flat, it is time. Harvest before spores drop: this gives better flavour and protects the quality of the next flush. The Amazonian strain produces firm, clearly shaped fruiting bodies that are easy to identify at harvest time.

How many flushes can I expect?

Multiple flushes are possible with good care. After the first harvest, clean the surface, re-moisten the substrate and allow it to fruit again. The second flush is generally somewhat smaller than the first. Mondo recommends using no more than two flushes per bag for safety.
