Vegetarian "00" 100 empty capsules (HPMC)

Vegetarian ''00'' 100 Empty Capsules (HPMC)

These empty capsules are made of HPMC, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a raw material derived from plant-based cellulose that serves as an alternative to the animal gelatin most regular capsules are made of. HPMC capsules are therefore suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and are also often chosen for a halal or kosher lifestyle since no animal-derived raw material is used. In terms of size and capacity, these capsules are identical to the regular gelatin "00" capsule: a capacity of around 650 mg of dry powder per piece, depending on the density of the powder you use. Like the gelatin variant, the capsule consists of two interlocking halves (cap and body).

Use

Pull the two halves of a capsule apart, fill the body with the desired powder or herbal blend and press the cap back on until you feel it click. HPMC capsules are somewhat stiffer than gelatin capsules, which makes them slightly less prone to sticking together in humid conditions while filling. Filling a whole pack of 100 pieces by hand takes time; the "00" Capsule Filler fills a large number of capsules at once by spreading the powder evenly over the open bodies.

Storage

Store the capsules dry and away from direct sunlight, preferably in the closed original packaging. Like gelatin capsules, HPMC capsules are also sensitive to moisture: prolonged exposure to a humid environment can reduce their quality. Keep them away from a humid room such as the bathroom.
