Galangal

Various galangal rhizomes are used in traditional Asian cuisine, such as Lao tom yum and tom kha gai soups, Vietnamese Huế cuisine, and throughout Indonesian cuisine. Although all varieties of galangal are closely related to common ginger and each shares similarities with ginger’s spicy flavor, every type is unique, and galangals are not used as a substitute for ginger in traditional Asian dishes.
Galangal is also known as Thai ginger or Siamese ginger (because it resembles fresh ginger so much). However, galangal’s skin is smoother and paler than ginger’s, and the interior is much harder. At Dutch Smart, we sell dried galangal.
Usage
Chew one to 10 grams of galangal or use it to make tea. Take an amount that gives you a satisfying effect. Additionally, this spice is perfect for use in the kitchen. Galangal has a spicy-sweet, lemony, slightly hot, and slightly bitter flavor. This dried galangal has a spicy-sweet aroma reminiscent of cinnamon.
