Three "strongest truffles", three completely different nights

We at Dutch-Smart get this question at least a few times a week: "What are your strongest truffles?" And then we name High Hawaiians, Valhalla, and Dragon's Dynamite. But honestly, that's only half an answer. All three are strong, sure. But they're three completely different experiences.

People who ask for "the strongest" usually have a specific picture in their head. One is looking for deep visuals, another wants an energetic evening, and someone else just wants to fully disconnect from the daily noise. For each of those, a different truffle fits. We'll lay out the differences based on what we actually know from years of selling them.

High Hawaiians, 25 grams and you see things that aren't there

High Hawaiians (Psilocybe tampelandia) are the truffles that most experienced users name first. And rightfully so. They're known for intense visual effects: patterns that move, colours that saturate, shapes that melt into each other. There's a mental component too, but with High Hawaiians it's the visuals that steal the show.

A full portion is 25 grams. That's a lot compared to the other two, which both come in 15-gram packs. So is it just more of the same? No. The trip builds differently. High Hawaiians come on slower than Dragon's Dynamite, but once they arrive, they arrive. The peak is broad and steady, not jarring. Many people describe it as cinematic. You're looking at the world as if someone turned up the saturation and contrast.

Thinking about trying something strong for the first time? High Hawaiians are actually the most predictable choice. Not because they're less intense, but because the build-up is gradual and gives you time to settle in.

Valhalla, 15 grams that hit like twice the amount

Valhalla was developed by Mush Magic, specifically bred for potency. The manufacturer gave them a strength rating of 6 on a scale of 5, and that's not just marketing! With roughly 1.4 mg of psilocybin per gram of fresh weight, this is the most concentrated truffle we stock.

But the difference with High Hawaiians isn't just about concentration. Valhalla pulls you inward. Where High Hawaiians are visually spectacular, Valhalla is more of a thinking trip. Deep thought streams, a a feeling that the boundary between you and your surroundings dissolves, and moments where you have an insight you can't put into words the next morning. That sounds abstract, but anyone who's experienced it recognises it straight away.

The 15-gram pack is enough for a solid session. Start with half if you're trying Valhalla for the first time, even if you have experience with other strong truffles. The come-up can hit faster than you expect.

Dragon's Dynamite, 15 grams of party on your retina

Dragon's Dynamite is the most approachable of the three, and yes, that sounds odd for a truffle in the "strong" category. But it's true. The character is euphoric and energetic. Colours get brighter and music sounds fuller. Your thoughts flow freely without pulling you into an inward spiral.

Does the difference with Valhalla sound subtle? It really isn't. Dragon's Dynamite is the truffle where you can still talk to your friends and want to go outside. Everything just feels a bit more fun and intense. Valhalla is the truffle where you stare at the ceiling for two hours and you're totally fine with it!

Of the three, Dragon's Dynamite is also the cheapest per pack. The thing is, it's an entry point to the top tier.

Which one when

Let's make it practical.

Want a visually spectacular trip with a gradual build-up, and you've got experience? High Hawaiians. The larger pack also gives you more flexibility with dosing.

Want to go inward, think deeply, let boundaries dissolve? Valhalla. Bring a trip sitter, not optional advice.

An energetic, euphoric evening with friends? Dragon's Dynamite. Strong, but the most forgiving if you slightly overshoot the dose.

Dosage, start lower than you think

High Hawaiians come in 25-gram packs, Valhalla and Dragon's Dynamite in 15 grams. But that doesn't mean you need more High Hawaiians for the same effect. The psilocybin concentration per gram differs between varieties.

The rule of thumb for all three: for your first time with a strong truffle, take no more than half the pack. Wait at least ninety minutes before drawing conclusions. Effects typically begin after 30 to 60 minutes and peak at 2 to 4 hours. Use our truffle calculator to work out a starting dose based on your body weight. And always take them on an empty stomach.

Safety with strong truffles

Strong is fun, but strong asks more preparation. With all three: never alone, always have a sober person present. Don't combine with alcohol, cannabis, or medication like SSRIs or MAO inhibitors. And pick a calm, familiar environment. That sounds like a standard checklist, but with these truffles it genuinely isn't. A bad setting with Valhalla or High Hawaiians can be the difference between an impressive experience and a night you'd rather forget.

Have a personal or family history of psychotic episodes, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder? Don't use psilocybin truffles, regardless of strength. And don't drive for at least 24 hours after use.

Of the three, Dragon's Dynamite is the one we most often recommend to people stepping into the "strong" category for the first time. Its character is the most forgiving. High Hawaiians and Valhalla demand more respect, and we mean that quite literally.
