This grinder from Pink Smokers Stuff has a top shaped like a slice of strawberry cake, in the style of the well-known 'bake sale' grinders: a playful, pink exterior with the properties of a serious metal grinder underneath. The housing is made from an aluminum/zinc alloy with a diameter of 63 mm (just over 2.5 inches), a size that lets you grind a solid portion of herbs in a single pass.

The grinder has 4 layers. The top chamber has sharp metal teeth that break down the herbs. The ground material falls through a mesh screen into the second chamber, where you can store it or scoop it out. A finer mesh in the third layer then sifts pollen (the powder from resin glands) down into the bottom chamber, the pollen catcher, so you can keep and use it separately.

Use and maintenance

Place a portion of herbs on the teeth of the top chamber, put the lid on and twist back and forth a few times until the material is ground fine. Then open the grinder layer by layer: use the ground herbs from the second chamber and let the pollen build up gradually in the bottom chamber. Clean the chambers regularly with a small brush; resin residue that collects between the teeth can be removed with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. Let all parts dry fully before reassembling.
