Natural Agarbatti - 15 grams
"Agarbatti" is the common Indian (Hindi/Sanskrit) umbrella term for incense sticks: "agar" refers to fragrant wood, "batti" means stick or wick. The term is older and broader than specific fragrance lines such as Nag Champa and is used across India for the traditional, hand-rolled incense stick built on a bamboo core. Agarbatti production has traditionally been concentrated in South India, where generations of incense makers pass down their own recipes of fragrant wood, resin and herbs. Agarbatti differs from the related dhoop in that the stick is always rolled around a thin bamboo core, while dhoop is usually coreless and burns with more smoke.
This Natural variant has a soft, understated scent that is less overtly sweet than the classic Nag Champa style. The stick is made from a paste of aromatic ingredients hand-rolled around a bamboo core and then dried, the same method used for centuries in Indian temples and homes to create a calm atmosphere.
Use
Place the stick upright in an incense holder with an ash catcher. Light the tip, let it burn for a few seconds and blow out the flame; the stick will then keep smouldering and gradually release its scent. Ventilate the room while it burns and keep the holder away from flammable materials.
Storage
Store the sticks in the sealed pack, dry and out of direct sunlight, so the scent stays intact as long as possible. Exposure to moisture makes the stick burn unevenly and weakens the aroma.
