Klip Dagga | Leonotis Nepetifolia

The effects of Klip Dagga or Leonotis Nepetifolia are very similar to those of Wild Dagga, but are slightly milder. Klip Dagga is smoked in South Africa. The main active alkaloid is leonurine. The plant is native to western India, South America, and Africa, and is well-acclimatized in Mexico. The herb is also known as “Lion’s Ear.”

About the plant itself

The Klip Dagga plant grows to a height of 3 meters and has spiky, spherical flowers that are usually orange, varying in color to red, white, and purple. It has serrated leaves that can grow up to 10 centimeters. The plant is highly self-seeding because it does not require optimal growing conditions.

Marijuana

The dried leaves of Leonotis—both Wild Dagga and Klip Dagga—are sometimes used as a substitute when marijuana is not available.
