Why a Heat Guard is essential when using a heating mat

A heating mat transfers heat through conduction. Without a buffer, that heat concentrates at the contact points on the base of the grow kit, creating hotspots above 30°C. Mycelium is heat-sensitive: above 30°C growth slows rapidly and contamination risk increases. The silicone Heat Guard spreads warmth evenly across the full contact surface, keeping temperature stable and safe for the substrate.

Silicone is naturally heat-resistant and conducts heat more slowly than plastic or glass, making it an ideal buffer material between a heating element and a grow box. How to use

Place the heating mat on a flat surface. Put the Heat Guard on top of the mat. Place your grow kit on the Heat Guard. The gap created by the buffer is sufficient to break direct heat conduction and ensure even warmth distribution across the base of the kit.
