Ocimum Sanctum, also known as Holy Basil, Ocimum Tenuiflorum, or Tulsi, is one of India’s most sacred plants. It has a pleasantly fresh, herbaceous scent with a woody undertone that is distinctly different from the scent of the basil we are familiar with. The herb should therefore not be confused with the basil we keep in our kitchen cupboard (Ocimum Basilicum).

Uses of Holy Basil

You can easily make a Holy Basil infusion by adding 2 or 3 teaspoons of dried herb to a cup of boiling water. Let it steep for 5 to 6 minutes, then strain out the remaining herb. The resulting beverage is packed with benefits!
