Blue Lotus, Alkaloid Extract (TPA) 10ml
The Blue Egyptian Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) has been used for thousands of years in Egyptian rituals and meditation traditions. The plant owes its calming and consciousness-enhancing properties to two main alkaloids: nuciferine and nornuciferine. This TPA extract isolates precisely those substances as purely as possible.
TPA stands for Total Purified Alkaloids: a preparation process in which the alkaloids are isolated from the plant material through multiple extraction and purification steps and then dissolved in a standard base of ethanol and water. The result is a clear liquid extract free of plant residues, wax, chlorophyll, or other plant components. This makes it the most concentrated and purest blue lotus product in the Dutch-Smart range, but also the narrowest in profile: broad-spectrum components such as terpenes and flavonoids, which are present in a resin extract or the whole flowers, are absent here.
The composition is simple: alkaloids from Nymphaea caerulea, ethanol, and water. No additives, preservatives, or flavorings are added.
Dosage and use
Start with 5 to 10 drops (approximately 0.25–0.5 ml) per dose. Due to its high purity, this extract is stronger per volume than a standard tincture or resin extract, so always start on the lower end to assess your reaction before increasing the dose.
The extract can be taken sublingually (drops placed directly under the tongue for rapid absorption through the oral mucosa) or diluted in a small amount of water or juice. Due to the ethanol content, the taste is sharp; diluting it makes it more pleasant to take.
Do not combine with alcohol in large quantities or with sedative medications (benzodiazepines, sleeping pills) without consulting a doctor. Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage
Store the extract in a cool, dark place, upright, and tightly closed. Ethanol-based extracts are stable at room temperature and have a shelf life of at least 2 years when stored properly. Do not freeze. After use, close the cap tightly to prevent evaporation of the ethanol carrier.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a TPA extract and a regular tincture or resin extract?
A regular tincture (such as the 15x tincture) or a resin extract is a full-spectrum extract: in addition to alkaloids, they also contain terpenes, flavonoids, and other plant compounds. A TPA extract goes a step further by retaining only the isolated alkaloids. This makes it purer and easier to dose accurately, but narrower in spectrum. For those who specifically want the effects of nuciferine and nornuciferine without other plant influences, the TPA extract is the most targeted choice.
Why is this extract more expensive than the other blue lotus products?
The purification process for a TPA extract is more labor-intensive than the production of a powder or resin extract. The alkaloids are isolated in multiple steps, which requires more time, materials, and technical expertise. The higher price reflects that production process, not a higher amount of plant material per gram.
Is this extract suitable for daily use?
Due to its high purity and concentration, this product is more suitable for occasional, targeted use than for daily routines. For daily relaxation, the less concentrated forms (the tincture or the dried flowers) are a more practical and cost-effective choice.
How many doses are in a 10ml bottle?
At a starting dose of 5 drops (approximately 0.25ml), a 10ml bottle contains approximately 40 doses. At 10 drops, that’s approximately 20 doses. For occasional use, a bottle will therefore last a long time.
