Comedian Sarah Silverman on the Emmy red carpet with a vaporizer

For years, the U.S. was known for being very cautious when it came to legalizing cannabis, but in recent years the country has been catching up. Things are moving so fast that acceptance has even reached Hollywood, as we saw last month at the Emmy Awards.

The Emmys are America’s most prestigious TV awards, and the ceremony is always a spectacle. Sarah Silverman, a comedian known for her work on Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, and Frasier, among others, was the center of attention this time around after appearing on the red carpet with a vaporizer.

Entertainment channel E had a segment on the red carpet where they asked celebrities to show the contents of their bags, obviously hoping that something shocking would come out. Without hesitation, Sarah pulled a vaporizer out of her bag—and despite the legality of (medical) cannabis, it was yet another breakthrough in America, live on television.

A vaporizer is a pen-shaped device used to inhale cannabis. A vaporizer does not burn the harmful substances in the cannabis but only vaporizes the active ingredients, so you only ingest the active ingredients from the cannabis. Thanks to this “clean” way of smoking/vaping, vaporizers have become hugely popular recently—and that goes for Hollywood as well….
