How do you keep your weed fresh for a long time?
Are you growing your own weed and noticing that your stash is getting pretty big? Or would you like to start growing your own weed but aren’t sure how to keep the final product fresh for as long as possible? In this article, we’ll give you a few handy tips that you can easily put into practice yourself.
Let the buds dry thoroughly
Do you want your weed to retain its aroma and flavor without changing its texture? Then it’s important to let the buds dry immediately after you’ve cut them. The curing process generally takes eight to ten days. The buds must be stored under exactly the right conditions: if too much air or light reaches the buds, you’ll notice it in the flavor later on. So, dry them in a dark room, at a lower temperature, and with low humidity (more moisture will quickly lead to mold). The ideal temperature is around 22°C. Depending on the amount of buds you have, you can hang them in a cardboard box, for example. Exactly how long you let them dry depends, among other things, on your personal preference.
Storing in a glass jar
You probably have a glass jar somewhere that seals tightly. For example, a canning jar, the kind you use to store jam. Airtight storage ensures that the buds retain their own scent well and continue to absorb it. Just make sure the climate inside the jar doesn’t get too warm or too humid, otherwise you’ll still end up with the problem mentioned earlier. The smartest thing to do, once you’ve stored the buds in an airtight jar, is to open the jar every few days. This allows the buds to breathe a little now and then, even if it’s just for a few minutes. If they’re drying too quickly, you can also add an orange peel, for example, to help maintain the moisture balance.
That’s really all you need to do. Just make sure you don’t forget where you’ve stashed it—that would be a shame, of course! Enjoy ;-)
