The future looks bright for the world of psychedelics. After a hiatus of more than 60 years, the medical community is increasingly experimenting with psychedelic substances to treat conditions such as anxiety and depression. For now, all these studies are still in their infancy, but in America—of all places—a company has now opened that focuses on psychedelic treatments.

‘Science-backed therapeutic experiences’
The company, Mindbloom, focuses on mental health and well-being. It offers guided psychedelic therapy in a supportive and, in its own words, thoughtfully designed environment. The first location recently opened in New York, primarily with the goal of improving Americans’ access to affordable and effective science-backed therapeutic experiences.
Psychedelic medicine is increasingly demonstrating that it can have profound, long-lasting, and life-changing effects. “We help people achieve a deeper therapeutic experience to grow, heal, and expand their human potential,” said Dylan Beynon, the company’s CEO. “We partner with licensed psychiatric clinicians to improve outcomes for clients by facilitating treatments in a comfortable, elevated, hospitality-inspired space.”
Weighted blankets and gravity chairs
After a rigorous initial screening, including a psychiatric evaluation with a doctor, eligible clients are offered a full psychedelic program. For now, that treatment consists exclusively of ketamine therapy. Each session lasts about an hour and takes place in a private, spa-like setting with amenities such as gravity chairs, weighted blankets, eye masks, noise-canceling headphones, and aromatherapy for optimal comfort.
According to Mindbloom Medical Director and board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Paleos, mental health is the number one public health crisis in the developed world. Mindbloom’s therapy protocols are designed to alleviate suffering from depression or anxiety and enable lasting transformation for those who need it most. “Our programs are supported by extensive medical literature and my own research experience,” he added.

Psilocybin and MDMA
As a pioneer in psychedelic research, Paleos has dedicated his career to studying psychedelic substances such as psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine. For instance, he was one of the first researchers to identify ketamine as a groundbreaking treatment for depression, and he is also the principal investigator for the MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).
While MDMA and psilocybin treatments are still undergoing clinical trials for approval by the U.S. FDA, ketamine is currently the only psychedelic medication in the country that can be prescribed. At lower doses, ketamine can produce effects and sensations described as psychedelic.
Mindbloom has also developed its own software platform to provide patients with customized psychedelic therapy programs and ongoing support throughout their therapeutic journey. In addition to video consultations, clients have access to remote treatment options, such as virtual integration therapies and coaching, designed to translate clients’ new insights into actionable plans for daily life.
