Research chemicals or designer drugs are legal, and you can order them online; in fact, there are even some smart shops that offer 4FMP or other designer drugs. The word “legal” sounds reassuring, but this does not mean that their use is without risks; in fact, next to nothing is known about these research chemicals. Take MDMA, for example. MDMA has been used recreationally for many years, so we can discuss its long-term risks. Unfortunately, this is not the case with 4FMP or other research chemicals, as virtually nothing is known about them.
Why is so little known about the dangers of designer drugs?
The drugs listed in Schedule 1 of the Opium Act are illegal, so trafficking in these products is also illegal. What if the active ingredients—MDMA or amphetamine—are copied but made slightly different? YES, this creates a new drug that isn’t yet listed in the Opium Act and can therefore be freely traded—with all the consequences that entails! This is exactly what happened with 4FMP, 4FA, and 4FMP-H.
