According to recent reports, many Dutch people are starting to feel a bit down. And for many, that means poor focus and concentration, low energy, and a lack of motivation. We haven’t been able to go out and party for a while now, and hanging out with friends over a beer or glass of wine isn’t really an option either…These are all factors that can make you feel like you just need a little something extra sometimes. In short: we could all use a little more energy, concentration, and focus every now and then. Fortunately, there are products that can give you that little extra boost. Meet Gotu Kola.

Student Herb

Gotu Kola is a small plant from the wetlands of Asia with a number of remarkable effects on the body. The herb is also known as Centella Asiatica, Centella, Brahmi, and Asian pennywort. Centella Asiatica was used in ancient India, Africa, and China for its powerful medicinal properties. The plant grows in tropical, wet areas and bears a small white or pink flower on a leaf that resembles a thick crescent moon. These crescent-shaped leaves have been used in herbal medicine for many years.

Gotu Kola or Centella asiatica is also known by many users as “students’ herb.” And this is, of course, no coincidence: many people use the herb because they believe in effects such as sharpening the mind. It has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine to improve brain functions such as memory and concentration, although concrete scientific evidence to support this is still lacking. According to users, the extract appears to help repair many types of brain damage while simultaneously increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain. Furthermore, many anecdotal reports suggest that Gotu Kola may help in coping with stressful situations.

Gives you that little extra boost

So, according to them, Gotu Kola is a great focus booster, but the Asian herb does more than that. For instance, many indigenous tribes use the herb to care for the skin and treat all kinds of physical ailments. In fact, some people firmly believe in its ability to combat mental health issues. It is, therefore, a highly versatile herb that more and more people are seeking to use, partly because it is readily available in the Western world today.

And while Gotu Kola has multiple uses, it is traditionally, as explained, primarily used as a powerful circulatory aid to support a healthy brain and nervous system. In some parts of the world, the herb is recommended to promote mental clarity, concentration, and healthy brain function. Fun fact: Gotu Kola is known as an elephant’s favorite food. And as we all remember from the Rolo commercial: elephants never forget a thing!

Gotu Kola and improved concentration

Would you like to try this powerful herb to hopefully achieve great focus and concentration? You can! We sell Gotu Kola in 50-gram packages at Dutch-Smart. The best results are achieved when Gotu Kola is used daily and over a longer period, but it can also be taken in a higher dosage for immediate effects. To make a tea for daily use, dissolve half a tablespoon of powdered herb in hot water. If you want to make a stronger extract for stimulating and aphrodisiac effects, add 30 grams of herb to half a liter of boiling water. Let it simmer for at least 2 hours over low heat with the lid on the pot. Strain it, add sugar or honey if desired, and start by drinking a small cup.
