Why make kratom tea?

Kratom is known worldwide and is also becoming increasingly popular in Europe. One of the most popular ways to use kratom is by brewing it into tea. In Thailand and Malaysia, people often chew the leaves to experience the effects, but drinking a nice cup of tea is, of course, much more accessible. First of all, it’s good to know that there are different types of kratom: white vein, green vein, and red vein.

Now you might think you can simply throw the kratom powder into your cup with boiling water and that’s all there is to it. However, it’s a bit different. Because every type of kratom is rich in natural alkaloids, it’s not a good idea to pour boiling water over it. Instead, it’s important to let the water in your teapot cool for a few minutes. The best way to prepare kratom tea is to let it simmer for a while. That’s one of the best ways to ensure your tea has maximum potency. To make it extra tasty, you can add some lemon juice to your powder or leaves, as the citric acid helps maintain the alkaloids’ potency.

Let’s get brewing!

Do you have your kratom on hand? Then it’s time to make the tea! The easiest way to make tea is, of course, to bring the water in your kettle to a boil. Let it sit for a few minutes, then add the correct dosage of kratom powder and let it steep for about 10 minutes. Next, strain the tea through a sieve so no powder remains in your drink. By the way, it’s a good idea to add some sweetener, or perhaps some tasty honey, because kratom itself tastes pretty bitter!

It’s also essential to note that both the effect and the taste depend on how long you let your tea steep. You should also always start with small doses, about 1 to 2 grams of kratom per cup.

Don’t use boiling water

Because kratom is rich in various alkaloids—the active chemicals responsible for all its effects—the best way to get the most out of your kratom leaves or powder is to use warm water that has cooled slowly. Instead of boiling kratom in a teapot or pouring boiling water over it, simply add some hot water to your kratom tea mix, and you’re all set.

Citrus and sweetener

Another tip for making the tastiest and best kratom tea is to add some citrus juice, or maybe even a few orange slices. The nitrogen in kratom alkaloids tends to degrade with prolonged exposure to high temperatures. This affects the potency and taste of your brew, but with these two ingredients, you can make the infusion much fresher and more flavorful. Acidic products also work great here, such as apple cider or even vinegar.

Another addition that makes kratom tea or kratom infusion much more palatable is a sweetener. Think honey or stevia, or of course just sugar. If you really want to experiment, you can also add other flavorings like cinnamon or ginger. In short: the possibilities are endless for a delicious cup of kratom tea! Will you be making one tomorrow morning too?
