What's an easy way to dry mushrooms or magic mushrooms?

Once magic mushrooms have been dried, they can be stored for years, provided they are sealed tightly and kept in a cool, dark place. Fresh mushrooms will only keep for a few weeks in the refrigerator.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to dry mushrooms. You can dry your magic mushrooms using special filters and chemicals like desiccants, but this isn’t necessary for just a few pounds.

What do you need?

  • a wooden box
  • paper (paper towels and even newspapers are sufficient)
  • computer fan + adapter
  • drill/screwdriver

It is strongly discouraged to dry your magic mushrooms using heat sources or lamps, as this will reduce the active compounds.

Making your mushroom drying box

  1. Build a wooden box to the size you want.
  2. Drill a hole in the side of the box where you can place the computer fan.
  3. Place the computer fan on your mushroom drying box, but make sure the air is directed outward.
  4. Drill a few holes on the opposite side of the box from where the fan is placed. Place a piece of fabric over these holes (on the outside of the box).
  5. Make a loose bed of paper on the bottom of the box. A wire mesh tray is fine, of course, but we’d like to keep it simple and low-budget.

Your mushroom drying box is now ready for use and can be filled with your favorite mushrooms. Make sure not to stack the mushrooms on top of each other, as this can cause them to mold.

If you can break or snap the mushrooms, they’re dry!

Good luck, everyone!
