Psychedelic mushrooms have been part of human culture for thousands of years, and their use can be traced back to the time around the dawn of written history. We now know of more than 200 different types of mushrooms that produce psilocybin, the hallucinogenic compound that causes that powerful trip when you consumethese magic truffles or psilocybin mushrooms. More and more people are interested in magic truffles these days, and a question we see pop up regularly is what exactly happens to you after taking magic truffles. In this article, we’ll try to answer that!

First things first… what is psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring substance with a very long history of use in spiritual and religious rituals. Currently, it is one of the most popular recreational psychedelic substances. Psilocybin mushrooms are used in therapeutic settings to treat a wide range of conditions and disorders, including cluster headaches, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, and addiction. However, most users consume these mushrooms for their intense visual trip potential. After using magic truffles, you’ll find yourself in a completely different state for about 6 hours: one filled with visual and auditory changes in perception. In the Netherlands, magic truffles are perfectly legal (and available for purchase at Dutch Smart), and magic mushrooms can be grown at home using convenient mushroom grow kits. What happens when you take magic truffles?

First of all, we must of course tell you that a hallucinogenic trip is experienced differently by everyone. How you experience such a psychonautic journey depends on many different factors. Where do you take them? How many people are you trippingwith , which truffles do you buy, and what is your mood like? Still, for most users, there are many similarities when using magic mushrooms or truffles.

A common misconception many people have is that using magic mushrooms will cause you to see all sorts of things that aren’t actually there in “real life.” But won’t you hallucinate from them?” you might wonder. Well… yes and no. For example, it’s unlikely you’ll see a colorful unicorn flying through the room. But what we can guarantee is that an extreme visual spectacle will unfold. Colors become more intense, you can get lost in intricate patterns, and all surfaces slowly start to ripple. If you look at a tree, you’ll see all the leaves moving wildly and flowing into one another, while a sober person will insist there’s absolutely no movement at all.

If you close your eyes, there’s a good chance that extraordinary images will emerge. That’s because, while under the influence of magic mushrooms or truffles, you have much less control over your imagination than usual. The result is a dreamlike setting without boundaries. Many people also consider this the most remarkable effect of truffles: the feeling of being in a dream world, while still being fully present.

Another fun effect is the fact that time seems to stretch on endlessly. If, during a truffle session, you feel like you’ve been doing something for over an hour, chances are you’ve actually only been at it for 5 minutes. Your entire perception of everything around you changes. Time, sight, hearing… magic mushrooms and truffles are a great way to let your senses run wild. You are, as it were, reborn, and some people describe it as if they can see the whole world again through the eyes of a child.

And what about a bad trip?

While most magic mushroom and magic truffle users report an amazing psychedelic trip, there are, of course, also cases where the hallucinogenic substance doesn’t work as well for some people. In short, we call this a bad trip. Users in a poor mental state are generally more likely to have a bad trip, and a bad mood can also contribute to this. In some cases, the truffle user may feel paranoid, anxious, nervous, or even fearful instead of euphoric. The remedy? Ride it out and try to calm down. Take a deep breath and realize that this trip, too, will eventually come to an end. Another personal tip from someone who’s been there: don’t watch a horror movie right after taking your dose of truffles. That’s guaranteed to go wrong (believe me, I know from experience).
