Buying condoms: what should you look for?

Buying condoms: we all hate doing it at the drugstore. Fortunately, these days you can simply order condoms online, and they’ll be delivered to your home with the utmost discretion. But what should you actually look for when ordering condoms? Do you just pick the first one you see, or are there other factors to consider? We’d be happy to explain that to you.

Condoms offer important protection, not only against unwanted pregnancy but also against sexually transmitted infections. So it’s important to use a good, undamaged condom during sex. Not all condoms are of the same quality, but it’s hard to tell how good they are if you don’t know what to look for.

Most condoms today are made of latex. Latex is flexible and thin, yet very strong. This ensures you can have safe sex without losing much of the sensation (for men). A small number of people are known to be allergic to latex; for them, there are alternatives such as non-latex condoms.  There are also different sizes, as you’ll see in the Dutch-Smart sex shop. When choosing, it’s important to find a condom that fits well but isn’t too tight. This might take a little trial and error if you’re not used to using condoms. Another important point: check the expiration date! If this date has passed, the condom’s reliability is reduced. It is then not advisable to use it.
