Useful information about Dutch-Smart’s (100% mycelium) grow kits

As you may have already seen, Dutch-Smart offers so-called grow kits. These kits contain everything you need to grow your own magic mushrooms and/or truffles. Completely legal, and of course super convenient: you always know exactly what you’re growing and consuming! Plus, it’s incredibly interesting to watch your own batch grow. In this article, we’ll highlight some useful facts about these grow kits so you can get started with enthusiasm and be well-prepared.

What do you really need to know?

The best part about the grow kits is that we’ve adapted a specific process—which can take months for professional growers—so that you can harvest your magic mushrooms in just a few weeks. The grow kits come in various sizes: for example, there are kits with a 1200cc capacity (medium), but you can also go all out and order a grow kit with a 2100cc capacity! If you do that, you’ll have a really large supply of fresh magic mushrooms that you can’t possibly use all in one trip. So it’s helpful to know how to store fresh magic mushrooms properly. We’ve listed some frequently asked questions for you below!

“Why are the grow kits and magic truffles legal, but buying/selling magic mushrooms isn’t?”

Magic truffles, also known as sclerotia, are formed underground by certain mushrooms. They protect against weather conditions and contain “psilocybin.” This substance induces a colorful and rather philosophical state that lasts about four to six hours. Because magic truffles are a byproduct of magic mushrooms and contain no detectable psychoactive substances, they may be sold completely legally in the Netherlands.

The magic mushroom grow kits, which are intended for personal use, are also legal in the Netherlands. This is due to the substances they contain, which classify them as illegal to sell and distribute. So at Dutch-Smart, you can purchase your grow kits with peace of mind, because you’re always operating within the law!

What is mycelium, and what exactly does “100% mycelium” mean?

Mycelium is a network of fungal threads that grows underground. This is where the mushrooms that emerge above ground originate. A grow kit with 100% mycelium essentially means that the growing medium is completely filled with potential magic mushrooms. This allows you to harvest faster (often within three weeks) and really get the most out of your harvest! Plus, you can simply set up the 100% mycelium kits without actually watering the mushrooms.

“What’s the best way to store magic mushrooms if you’ve grown too many?”

If you start growing magic mushrooms yourself, you’ll soon have more than enough for just one or two trips. If you want to store them for a few extra days, put them in the fridge. That way, they’ll stay good for about ten days. Prefer to store them longer? Then it’s best to dry them and store them in a dark, dry place. You can then use them for months without the quality of your trip diminishing when you use them.

“Do I need to buy any additional supplies when I start using the grow kits?”

In principle, this isn’t necessary: all our grow kits come complete with everything you need to grow fresh magic mushrooms. However, if you’re starting without a grow kit, you’ll need to purchase everything yourself.
