What is a grinder?

Why use a grinder?
You want to grind your weed for two main reasons: first, to achieve an even, consistent burn in a joint or water pipe, and second, to evenly heat as many of the trichomes as possible and thereby get the most effect out of the plant buds. What types of grinders are there?

This is the simplest grinder. It consists of two parts that fit together to form a single device. The inside of each part features a number of ridges or teeth to shred the large buds. Three-piece grinder
A three-piece grinder has not two, but three parts. In addition to the two grinding sections, this grinder also features an extra compartment where the weed falls once it has been finely ground. There are also three-piece grinders that use a mesh screen to separate the kief from the buds—this is the accumulation of the frosty crystals that cover the buds and contain the resin of the cannabis plant. Four-piece grinder
