With more and more countries legalizing cannabis, the market for this wonderful green herb seems to be literally exploding. Here in the Netherlands, we’ve of course been enjoying this tolerated substance for a long time, but now that more and more people are using cannabis, there are also more and more ways to enjoy it. This can be especially confusing for new cannabis users. Just for them, today we’re taking a look at 7 of the best ways to smoke weed.

Pipes
Pipes have been around for quite some time and are considered one of the most classy ways to smoke. They range from simple pipes to intricately designed glass pipes filled with colorful patterns that will undoubtedly intrigue every user. If you’re someone who enjoys smoking from pipes, it’s no secret that part of the fun is collecting different pipes. After all, there are many types of pipes to choose from for smoking cannabis! A bong
Want to get high in a single hit? Then a good hit from the bong is all you need! There’s something special about watching the water bubble before your deliciously chilled cannabis smoke hits you. If you’re looking for a way to make smoking smoother and easier on your lungs, this is one of the best choices you can make. This is mainly because the bong has a cooling effect when it comes into contact with the smoke. This “softening” of the smoke makes it much smoother in texture than, say, smoking a joint. Another advantage of a bong is that you can inhale a lot of smoke all at once. So don’t get too carried away!

A vaporizer
This is perhaps the most modern and currently the most popular way to consume cannabis. Strictly speaking, we’re not talking about smoking here, but about vaporizing. Because while smoking actually burns the cannabis, that’s not the case with a vaporizer. Here, the cannabis is only heated to a certain point, creating vapor. Smoking generally releases more harmful byproducts, such as carbon monoxide and benzene. If you use a vaporizer, this is much less of an issue. A vaporizer heats the plant or plant material, releasing the active compounds as vapor, but with far fewer unwanted substances and particles. Plus, it often tastes nice and cool too!
A joint
This is probably how we all first came into contact with cannabis: smoking a joint. Joints can be seen as the OG when it comes to the endless list of ways someone can consume weed in 2020. The best thing about joints is that you can buy them pre-rolled at local coffee shops. Of course, you can also roll your own joint if you have rolling papers at home. Just make sure you distribute the cannabis evenly, otherwise one of your friends will be super stoned while you barely feel a thing! A dab rig or pen
If you’re someone who loves concentrates, then a dab rig might be the right way to smoke weed. There’s a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using dab rigs, but think of it as a more powerful version of a bong. When using a dab rig, you can use honey, concentrates, or wax instead of the typical dry flower you’d use with the other methods mentioned above. A dab rig heats the concentrate and vaporizes the THC so you can inhale it—similar to a vaporizer. A hookah
Shisha water pipes are very common in countries in the Middle East. There are many shisha lounges there, where people gather to have a drink and smoke a water pipe. Smoking shisha is therefore a social activity there, but in Dutch culture, the shisha is less well-known. Many young people and teenagers, however, are familiar with this water pipe. A water pipe looks very much like a bong and works almost the same way. With certain models, multiple people can smoke from it at the same time! There are many types of hookahs available for purchase. You can choose a small hookah for one or two people, or a hookah with, for example, four hoses. The selection is huge!
